This is the most important question.

 Fitness and therefore the industry of fitness is focused on weight loss and muscular tonus. It's an industry founded on the physique of a person. However, health to me is defined as a state where all systems of the body function efficiently. Here's the thing: lots of people eat fairly well and exercise, yet they frequently are injured, have pain, struggle with weight, constipation, digesting food, mood fluctuations, and fatigue. What's missing is what keeps a body stable and efficient. Sadly, dieting and exercise are not just what keeps your body stable or efficient. They are essential parts but there is a key factor missing in most people's fitness routines. We need to look at a person's body as quite just fat and muscle ratios. My view of fitness and health is about finding a way to live in a better state every single day. That means feeling happy, pain-free, and prepared to form every day an excellent one.

Fitness 

Fitness is the ability to perform specific tasks well. Fitness is usually very specific to goals or tasks. The fitness needed to be an elite marathoner is far different from the fitness needed to be an NFL lineman. Both are excellent at their chosen sports but have many different bodies and skills but both are very “fit." Health is the absence of disease both mentally as well as physically. Health means an individual has good physical health, no injuries, diseases or issues, and good psychological state and well being. An athlete can perform with injuries of have many mental issues like depression or drug dependencies, and still, be “fit” but not have health.

Fitness and health are often viewed in some ways. Often time is people may describe good fitness as being healthy and active. Some differences between the 2 terms include but aren't limited to the subsequent. Fitness may be a state or condition of being physically active. Fitness may be a result of general nutrition and proper conditioning, and fitness may be a state of general physical and mental well-being.

Health may be a much broader term and can vary from individual to individual. People may describe themselves as healthy but which will depend upon your description of what you are feeling is healthy. Having a mean or below average body mass index (BMI) may classify you as being healthy. Keeping your body fat percentage below a particular number can also assist you in being healthy. Health can include being for free from disease and injury. Again, health features a much broader outlook and may vary.

Essentially many differences are present between the 2 but plenty is hospitable discussion. Your main goal should be to stay high levels of fitness which should help end in a healthy lifestyle along with side sound nutrition.

Regarding fitness: let's just say someone can eat crap and still look fit because they are disciplined with their exercise regime. Regarding health: someone can be very healthy and still struggle with their weight because they don't like to exercise or are exercising inefficiently.


WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF HEALTH?

The WHO is defines health a state of: “complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.

Our bodies are designed to market health through adjusting and adapting to changes through a process called homeostasis. This controls the steadiness of our internal functions (see our blogs on The Central systema nervosum, The system and Key Hormones).

WHAT MAKES US HEALTHY?

Being free from disease or injury is simply one aspect of health. Our overall health is often suffering from our fitness but also by our mental wellbeing.

Exercise can boost endorphins, increase confidence and improve psychological state (see our blog on Exercise and psychological state, Yoga and psychological state and therefore the Benefits of Swimming). Many regular gym-goers focus on some areas of fitness but neglect others, such as working on CV fitness, muscular strength and endurance and body composition, while neglecting areas like balance, agility, flexibility and co-ordination.

Whether you are a personal trainer or the person being trained, it’s helpful to have an awareness of the difference between health and fitness, an understanding of the various components of fitness, and the importance of promoting wellbeing and mental health.
